The Reading Fringe is open to everyone, anyone can put on an event in Reading and it will become part of the Fringe. The Fringe will help you make the contacts that you need. The Fringe will also act as a central co-ordination team for the programme, publicity, and contacts with the press and local media.

The Reading Fringe Festival is a showcase for talent in music, comedy and the arts, held in the lead-up to the Carling Reading Festival. 2006 and 2007 saw even more comprehensive programmes, with the festival branching out into film and theatre as well as music, art, comedy and dance.

Background

2005's fringe festival saw music ranging from Aqua Livae's roots reggae to Pure Reason Revolution's nu-prog, via the cartoon-ska-pop of sixnationstate, while people flocked to dance lessons, art exhibitions and comedy shows all over town. 2006 saw the stars of tommorrow joined by more established acts and 2007 continued the theme. The Reading Fringe Festival was started in 2005 after a group of musicians decided to put on some events in the week running up to the Carling Reading Festival. This rapidly expanded to become an event that included Art and Dance as well.

The Fringe is currently at its planning stage, in the pipeline are consultation meetings open to venues, promoters, acts and anyone interested in Music and Arts who want to contribute their ideas on what direction the Fringe should take.

At the heart of the Fringe is the local music and arts scene which generates volunteers to help with anything from writing press releases, seeking out and meeting sponsors or dealing with emails to handing out flyers, staging events and maintaining the Fringes online presence................Join
